The Dutch may not have to ditch their bikes quite so often during the winter. One Dutch company wants to heat the country’s bicycle lanes with a geothermal heating system.

It’s fair to say that the Dutch love their bikes.
The country has around 17 million people, and an estimated 18 million bikes.
There are more than 20,000 miles of bike lanes in the country.
But during the cold and icy winter, bike use does drop off.
So, a Dutch environmental consulting firm has proposed heating the bike lanes using a geo-thermal system.
Yeah, heated bike lanes.
