Author Kevin Barry is the latest writer to share his suggestions for your summer reading. His own book of short stories, "Dark Lies the Island" comes out this September.

His choices, three fairly heavy books may be dark he says, but when better to read a dark, heavy novel then in the summer.

"Do you want to read this stuff in a dark, winter's night with a gale rattling the shutters on your windows or is good to have some summer light around you?" says Barry.
