Middle East wine revolution: Arab awakening boosts wine business

Today, we’re examining a different angle to the uprisings: commerce, particularly the growing number of Middle Eastern wine businesses.

Since the first rumblings of revolution in Tunisia last year, we’ve been covering the Arab awakenings often. We’ve asked for analysis from political reporters and foreign correspondents, and reported the latest news as it came in. Today, we’re examining a different angle to the uprisings: commerce, particularly the growing number of Middle Eastern wine businesses.   Cathy Huyghe is the founder of  365DaysOfWine.com, a website about drinking wine every day, and Red White Boston, a for-profit marketing service that designs and promotes wine events. She joins us  to talk about the recent revolutions in the Middle East and the impact they’re having on local wine businesses. Huyghe recently attended  VinExpo in Bordeaux, where she spoke with winemakers and representatives from North Africa and the Middle East, including Morocco, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Israel.
