Reporter was covering demonstration in Homs

Gilles Jacquier, a reporter from France 2 television, was killed covering a pro-regime demonstration in Homs.

Ian Black of the Guardian who was near the incident but didn't see it believes the car Jacquier was traveling in was hit by a rocket propelled grenade.

Jacquier was an experienced, award-winning foreign correspondent who had covered most of the major stories of the last decade.

He is the first western reporter to be killed covering the Syrian uprising.
