A teen girl reported missing more than two years ago has escaped from a home in Southwestern Illinois where she was held captive and sexually assaulted, reports AP. 

A 24-year-old man and his mother were arrested in Washington Park on Thursday, after allegedly kidnaping and sexually assuaulting the teenager. The Chicago Tribune reports that two dozen SWAT team officers wearing helmets and body armor stormed the home with assault rifles drawn. 

The girl, who was 15 at the time of her disappeareance in April 2010, reportedly became pregnant as a result of rape by her captor. The two-year-old child was also recovered from the home and was taken away in an ambulance. 

St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly told the Chicago Tribune on Friday that the girl's account of her captivity was "horrific." 

NBC News reports that the girl escaped from the home in earlier this week and told police that she was held against her will and was beaten and sexually assaulted almost every day.

She reportedly told police she was able to escape this week with the help of a relative.

A neighbor, Lakeitha Smith, told KSDK TV that she occasionally saw the girl outside the house and never witnessed anything suspicious. "I used to see her come out of the house, back and forth," Smith said. "I didn't think she was being held hostage in the house."
