Lorie Conway’s new documentary focuses on the life of crusading Zimbabwean human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa and the attorney’s efforts to revive the country’s decrepit legal institutions.
Zimbabwean authorities arrested Mtetwe for the third time in March, and say her trial will begin in May. The arrest appears to be part of a crackdown ahead of Zimbabwe’s presidential elections scheduled for this summer.
“Any injustice, my view is that it must be resisted with all the might that you can muster as a human being,” Mtetwa says. “So that’s what I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember.”
