In a historic move, the Boy Scouts of America voted last week to lift the ban on gay members while still prohibiting gay adult leaders.  
New York State Senator Brad Hoylman  is an openly gay former Eagle Scout and parent. He doesn’t think the Boy Scouts’ new policy goes far enough, so he has introduced legislation that would prohibit youth organizations that discriminate on the basis of sexuality, gender, or other identifying characteristics like nationality, race, or religion from claiming tax-exempt status.
Senator Hoylman believes that the Boy Scouts’ policy is plain discriminatory. “The discrimination currently is based on the myth that men who are gay are predators…we cannot let that stand,” he says.
