Burgundy Wine Village Upset at the Sale of Iconic Castle to Chinese Businessman
Residents of a medieval winemaking village in Burgundy are upset by the sale of the village’s castle to a businessman from China.

Imagine a medieval village in a celebrated wine region of Burgundy surrounded by rolling hills of bountiful vineyards.
In the village sits a castle which has been owned by the same family since the 1800s.
Now imagine that the castle has been sold to a Chinese businessman who closed it to the public.
It happened in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in eastern Burgundy.
The World’s Adeline Sire tells anchor Marco Werman that the villagers, who fear losing part of their cultural heritage to China, are upset.
