Heba Aly reports on the mixed reaction in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum to news that Sudan’s president now faces genocide charges.
Throngs of Sudanese gathered yesterday in a government-organized protest against the ICC charges. This food vendor in Khartoum says President al-Bashir is not to blame. This man says the arrest of the Sudanese President would have terrible consequences. But Darfurians here in Khartoum have a different reaction, and this refugee from Darfur says the government is responsible. Whether or not Bashir is arrested, troubles seem likely to continue in Darfur.
