Astronomers are astounded by an X-ray flash, the birth of a supernova
With elections, gas prices and the troubling geopolitical landscape permeating our thoughts, it’s refreshing to realize that the deeper questions of the greater universe remain undiscovered. For the first time ever, scientists have witnessed a Supernova. The massive explosion that accompanies the final days of a massive star were witnessed by a global network of scientists who, in a moment of cooperation turned their telescopes towards the same, tiny galaxy at a perfect moment in time. Hedi Hammel with the Space Science Institute tells us more.
