Faith talks to Sean Johnson, an executive producer at BET J, a sister network to Black Entertainment Television, about the network’s television portrayals of modern gay and lesbian life.
If you head the words “gay” and “cable network,” what comes to mind? Probably LOGO… or Bravo… probably NOT BET. Well, thanks in large part to Sean Johnson, BET’s sister network BET J has become a source for some of the most fair, accurate, and inclusive portrayals of gay and lesbian lifestyles in television today. He’s an executive producer at the network, and last month, he accepted a special recognition award on behalf of the network at this year’s GLAAD Awards ceremony. GLAAD is the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. Sean Johnson speaks with Faith Salie on Fair Game.
