It’s one of Poland’s cultural gems — home to the country’s National Art Museum. Early in the 20th century, this city became a cultural center for Poland’s Jewish community.

Then came World War Two — when the Nazis forced the city’s Jewish population into a ghetto and sent many away to concentration camps.

Communism brought more anti-Semitism. But now there’s revival of interest in the city’s Jewish life. In fact, a new Jewish political and cultural center opened there today.
