In British Columbia, a coalition of Indigenous communities is trying to help forests recover from wildfires. The Secwepemcúl’ecw Restoration and Stewardship Society (SRSS) uses traditional practices to plant a mix of native trees, shrubs and other vegetation, aiming to restore balance to the ecosystem and make it more resilient to future fires. The coalition emerged out of some of the most devastating fire seasons in western Canada. Host Carolyn Beeler speaks with SRSS CEO Angela Kane about the impact of this work.
