In Uganda, women have traditionally been discouraged — both legally and culturally — from owning or inheriting land. Over the last 20 years, however, the laws have been changing. Now in the city of Mbarara, the majority of people investing in real estate are women. But as reporter Anita Elash explains, cultural taboo remains strong, and a lot of these deals are happening secretly.
