In language-divided Belgium, it’s cause for complaint when a train conductor greets a Flemish passenger in both Dutch and French, despite being in a non-French speaking region. That’s what happened on a recent train heading through Flanders. The country’s Permanent Commission for Linguistic Control is now reviewing the case, but Belgian journalist Maïthé Chini with the Brussels Times tells Host Carol Hills that many in Belgium find the complaint ridiculous.
