In the US, the city of Salem is synonymous with witch hunts. But what happened in Salem is a short chapter in a long story of witch hunts, a history that began in Europe. In the Netherlands, where a Dutch politician was recently the victim of an online campaign accusing her of witchcraft, there’s a new effort to raise public awareness around the dark history behind these characterizations.
