When I watch the Downton Abbey Season 3 finale this Sunday, I’ll do so with cocktail in hand. No, the Dowager Countess wouldn’t approve of a lady boozing. But she can just get over it — I sense drama on the horizon and I shall be prepared. Besides, she’s no shrinking violet and probably enjoys a cheeky bit of hooch behind drawing room doors. (“I’m a woman, Mary. I can be as contrary as I choose.”)
A saga with such color, such intrigue deserves a cocktail named after everyone in it, upstairs and downstairs:
The Dowager Countess — crme de violetteand lemon juice
O’Brien’s Revenge — whiskey and bitters
Thomas Collins — made with Cork Dry Gin
In the spirit of a spirited finale, we’d like to know what you’re drinking (responsibly).
Post an original recipe for a new cocktail named after a character on the show.
Make sure your recipe is detailed and tastes good. Post it in the Comments section below.
Join WNYC and your fellow Abbeyfiles here Sunday at 8:45pm ET as we live-chat the finale!
