After the Paris prosecutor’s office dropped the investigation into writer Tristane Banon’s claim, based on a statute of limitations, Strauss-Kahn’s career continued on. Some even named him as the likely frontrunner in France’s upcoming presidential election before the scandal that marred his career last May.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund, is being detained for questioning today in order to investigate if he had a role in a prostitution ring that took place at the Carlton, a four-star hotel in the northern French city of Lille. Police can legally hold Strauss-Kahn for 48 hours for questioning, and another 48 with a judge's approval, according to the Associated Press.
