Scotland has been buzzing with news about the upcoming independence referendum. But one Scottish island won’t be getting any updates on the latest referendum news — at least on their smartphones. That’s because there’s no cell service. Can you name this unplugged island?
The village of Arinagour on the remote Scottish island.
A tiny island off the western coast of Scotland is almost like a place lost in time. The residents don't tweet, text, or Facebook on the go — but not by choice.
The island lacks reliable cell phone coverage, and until recently, there hasn't been enough incentive to build a tower — so residents have made due without.
But now, the Scottish government is attempting to change all that, bringing this island into the 21st century with 4G service.
For this week's Geo Quiz, we're looking for name of this unplugged island.
