Just last year, Silvio Berlusconi officially submitted his resignation as Italy’s prime minister, thus ushering in the Mario Monti era in Italy.
But over the weekend, it became clear that the Monti era would be a short one. Mario Monti announced Saturday that he was resigning because Berlusconi had withdrawn his parliamentary support.
On top of that, Berlusconi announced that he’ll seek a return to power.
