Unemployment devastates both the financial and emotional lives of many Americans, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll. More than half the nation’s jobless have borrowed money from friends and relatives and have cut back on medical care. Almost half say they have suffered from depression or anxiety. We speak with Andrew Stettner, deputy director of the National Employment Law Project; and with Kevin Roach, executive director of the South Oakland Homeless Shelter in Royal Oak, Michigan.
