Garret, the German born musician is in his mid-twenties but already considered a virtuoso, one of the best young players in the world. His preferred instrument is an 18th century instrument which costs a cool million dollars. After a performance in London in December Garret tripped and fell down a flight of stairs while carrying the violin. He says he fell with his whole body weight on his carrying case. He saw three major cracks in his instrument. He was speechless. How do you fix a rare, 280 year old instrument? Apparently it takes eight months and costs over $100,000. Garret was lent a proper instrument to play on Valentine’s Day, and to secure both him and the violin, Garret was accompanied by a three man security team.
