Polls in Mexico show that most Mexicans would like to see Barack Obama as the next US president. The World’s Lorne Matalon reports.
At first reflex, many Mexicans identify with Obama who they see as a man who has overcome entrenched many obstacles. But McCain’s conservative views on abortion also resonate here. This political analyst says Mexicans have fallen for Obama, and Mexicans haven’t fallen for a U.S. President like this since JFK, but in general Mexicans prefer Democrats. This Mexican pollster says Mexicans prefer Obama by a three to one margin because the language of Obama has to do more with the government being responsible for itself. But at this center-right newspaper says Obama support doesn’t seem that high to her, and there are a lot of conservative Mexicans.
