Faith talks to Oxford University mathematician Marcus du Sautoy about his new book, “Symmetry: A Journey in the Patterns of Nature.”
Human beings have two eyes, two hands, two elbows, two earlobes, two feet – our bodies are marked with profound symmetry. It’s a beautiful and intriguing property that appears again and again in nature, and in mathematics. Now a new book delves deeply into the mysteries of symmetry, and a race among mathematicians to understand its properties. It’s called Symmetry: A Journey in the Patterns of Nature, and it’s by Oxford mathematician Marcus du Sautoy, who speaks with Faith Salie on Fair Game.
