The former Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic had been leading a secret life before his arrest earlier this week, and The BBC’s Christian Fraser followed in Karadzic’s footsteps to find out more about that secret life.
For eight years, Karadzic was right here in a suburb of new Belgrade. He was known in his new life as a doctor of alternative energy. He had moved several times, but had recently take home in a grey, anonymous apartment. The neighbors were not so willing to talk today but one who passed him every day said he had no idea, and said he was polite and charming. In these parts, Karadzic is still seen as a war hero. It seems extraordinary that nobody would’ve guessed who he was, despite the fact that wanted photos of him are posted throughout town.
