These exotic birds live on the island New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean. The females tend to blend in with their surroundings while most of the males have gorgeous feathers, and elaborate mating rituals.
There are more than 40 species of Birds of Paradise on the Indonesian island New Guinea. As Mary McCann reports, many of the males have exotic plumage and go all out to attract a mate.
