Mexico’s former president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, used his Morena party’s majority to shove through reforms to make all judges in Mexico elected, instead of appointed. Now, current President Claudia Sheinbaum is watching as the makeup of the Supreme Court has completely changed. The court now aligns with the Morena party. Down-ballot candidates in local elections are still being determined, and as the results become clear, Host Carolyn Beeler talks with Stephanie Brewer, director for Mexico at the Washington Office on Latin America, about what these results mean.
