Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby resigned on Tuesday after an investigation found that he failed to tell police about the serial physical and sexual abuse of a volunteer at Christian summer camps at the time he became aware of it. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the head of the Church of England and spiritual leader of the the global Anglican Communion comprising of 85 million Anglicans worldwide, including Episcopalians in the United States.
