Venezuelans will head to the polls this weekend for a crucial presidential election. The country is governed by authoritarian President Nicolás Maduro, who is seeking re-election. But he’s not very popular. Under his 11-year rule, Venezuela’s economy collapsed, repression escalated and millions of people left. The displacement has contributed to a migrant surge in the US.
