Steph Yiu founded Denizen in 2006 to serve a unique subset of immigrants. According to their website, denizens are often not citizens of the places where they live. They are “admitted rights to residence,” or become inhabitants after “regularly frequenting a place.”
(Season 2, Episode 4) Third culture kids, like Barack Obama, are "invisible immigrants" who seem American, but don't feel like they're from the United States, and often lie when asked where they're from.
